This is a decent basic manual for practice. It does a great job of going over how to do a thorough dental exam before even getting started. It references the dental work done on young horses more than old and in my practice, I unfortunately see many old horses with bad teeth and I wish this book addressed those dental problems in a little more detail.

Daughter is a Ferrier and is also studying Equine Dentistry- She asked for this book for X-mas and seems very pleased with it!

Although the author has gained some serious credits in the world of equine dentistry, this book does not live up to its expectations. The procedures that are described are not very detailed and lack the current insights in modern dentistry. Albeit this is a good start-up for willing enthusiasts in this field of work, a skilled equine dentist will have no advantage from this book. The most serious problem is that it lacká·°s a functional / theoratical backbone from which dentistry has to be performed (i.e. no in depth review of masticatory function and dental balancing).

We know the main contributor and use his services for our 500 horses. Each horse owner should know how to remedy simple problems and when to call the dentist. Several of our horses were pronounced "dying, no matter what you do" by the University Large Animal Clinic, but attention to their teeth saved each of them. Solely on the strength of the contributor we strongly recommend this manual to all horse owners.

This book gives a great practical foundation for horse floating in a vet practice. The illustrations provide a very thorough guide to various pathologic dental conditions and their remedies. Equipment is also discussed in detail. If you can only afford one book on equine dentistry, I would recommend this one. Best on the "How-To's".

I can't say enough about this book, it has enlightened me. It's out of print I think, b/c it was hard for me to get my hands on one, but the effort was well worth it!

Purchased for my granddaughter who is a Vet Tech! She was thrilled with it and checks it frequently! Nice gift! Great looking book.

A needle threader and a pair of pliers to be used to pull the needle through the beads would be helpfu.UPDATE: Oct. 3, 2010I had fewer problems with beads of other colors. Still, they should check the quality of all the beads before shipping them.________I opened this kit a couple of hours ago. The book is clear and the loom is cute. The problem is the beads. Easily 1/4 to 1/3 are unusable; I can't get the needle through them. I've used seed beeds before and yes, some beads are always too small, but the proportion of bad beads here is ridiculous. It's hard to move quickly because I have to check each bead as it slides onto the needle. It took me a while to realize that the beads, not I, were the problem. It would have been helpful if the book had mentioned that. The next issue is the floss. It shreds. A lot. Try threading a shredded piece of floss through a tiny needle eye and then through a row of threaded beads. It's very difficult. I've had to undo some rows and I feel like Penelope at her loom.I'm looking forward to learning this craft, but I can't wait to try it with better supplies.

In an effort of full disclosure - There hasn't been a Klutz book yet that I haven't liked..... And we have acquired AT LEAST 20 in the last 10 years or so....As usual- per the Klutz standard- the instructions in the book were easy to follow- accompanied by the great close up photos. Several ideas/suggestions got us up and running in No time.We own a standard wooden loom- from a previous craft kit- it was the book I really wanted- so the extra loom was just a bonus- and I wasn't expecting much after reading previous reviews. Having said that- I have come to prefer the loom that was included with the Klutz book. (as does another avid crafter friend- who is planning to buy the book-just for the loom!)SO- though not really necessary- the loom folds up for easy storage-(greast idea)I LOVE that the far side of the loom is raised an inch or two than the side closest to you (of course you can also turn it around) providing enough of an angle to make your work visible to you without having to 'hover' over the top of it. It also allows for an easier pass of your needle beneath your work(unlike the wood loom we have which is Quite a bit narrower underneath).The most convenient though- I think is the plastic nob on the roller- which has a slice down the middle- which allows you to easily wedge your extra tail ends into- as well as pull them out- making loading and removing your work quick and simple.Great purchase- I usually wait for the Klutz books to go on sale at the local craft store- but this price was better than the sale or purchase with a coupon!!

My daughters received this as a Christmas gift 2 years ago. They were 10 and 8 years old. My then 10 year old was able to follow the instructions on her own without any help from us parents. She also was able to guide her younger sister and teach her how to use it. They have both made several very pretty bracelets. They love it! I am back to order a second kit so they don’t have to share one loom. No complaints on any of it. Worked great for us.

More for adults than children, this loom is difficult to hold on to. Of course size 11 seed beads are not exactly easy for small hands to manipulate anyway, but I found this gift raised expectations that were disappointed. Perhaps purchase this for those children who are well able to exert control over fine motor skills, over the age of 12, perhaps younger if they are somewhat precocious or determined to learn.

A 6 yr old girl loves it. It functions well and the book gives her many ideas. Recommended for children. It is easy to work with and light-weight.

This is a great craft. I would recommend it for tweens and above. My daughter is a very detailed 13 yr old. She likes this craft because it is something she cannot do on her own. She loved to braid bracelets and make jewelry already and this craft allows her to make bracelets different and more complicated than that.

If I could rate a zero I would. The loom fell apart and the beads and thread I threw out. The whole thing ended up in the garbage.

(Note: this review was dictated by my 15 month old son)."Baby Faces" is really one of those literary works that improves upon multiple close readings. It's opens in what seems to be a bit of a cliched drawing room sort of novel, with "happy baby" and "sad baby". But then it throws you for a real loop with "puzzled baby" and "surprised baby" and you know this book is something different. The middle portion gets quite dark and troubled, with "angry baby", "worried baby", and "crying baby", but you find emotional catharsis with "laughing baby". Then there's a steamy interlude that rises through "hungry baby" and peaks with "kissing babies". The "man against himself" plot enters with "dirty baby" and culminates with "clean baby". And of course, the denouement of "tired baby" and "fast asleep" wraps up in a delightful and unexpected way. There just so much going on, I could read it again and again and again and again and again and find something new every time.

When my kids were babies they really enjoyed looking at other babies. I had this book in the diaper bag to pull out when in need of entertaining them. I only allowed them this book when we were away from home so it was more novel. All babies seem to really enjoy it. I give this as a baby gift to friends. It is small so it is easy to store in the diaper bag. I had trouble finding it in bookstores, so I was extremely thankful I found it on Amazon!

My 4 1/2 month old loves looking at people, particularly other babies and kids. As expected, she enjoys this book quite a bit! I am also quite pleased with the diversity of the kids in the book. My daughter is biracial and lives in a large metropolitan city; it is great that she can pour over pictures of kids who look like her and others in her community. The length of the book is also perfect - long enough to hold her interest but short enough to fit her limited attention span.

My baby laughed at the surprised face and furrowed her brow at the puzzled and sad faces. Very cute book and I found the facial expression accurate for the emotions labelled! She loved the "Myself" section of the Priddy Book 100 First Words so much that I was inspired to get this book and I am glad I did. I also would recommend the 100 First Words book for all babies.

This was a gift from baby's auntie. Babies love looking at other babies, and at themselves. So this was definitely a hit. Nice big pictures of toddlers with a range of facial expressions conveying different emotions. It's a nice little too old for helping children identify and recognize different emotional states.

This is the first book my daughter took an interest in at 6 months and it is still her favorite book at almost 11 months! She now acts out/ imitates several of the pics as she “reads” it! Very fun and simple! Must buy for every baby! They really enjoy looking at other babies in pictures.

I bought this book for my son when he was 12 months old and at 20 months old he still returns to it and enjoys it. In fact, he enjoys it so much that I've mended it with so much clear packaging tape that it could probably withstand a nuclear blast. I might have to order another copy. From an adult's perspective, looking at the book you might find the pictures silly, but maybe your kid will like them as mine does.As for concerns by some as to whether the book teaches a better range of facial expressions... Well, isn't that where the parent steps-in and interacts with the child and teaches him or her about a broad range of emotions and expressions? We can't leave it all to books and television. What it does do is teach my child about books and that there are things to be enjoyed about them, as well as learned from them.Here's a run-down of the book and its content.
