The recipes, I'm sure, turn out to be delicious. BUT, if you are a diabetic and counting the carbs I really don't think this will work unless you plan to be hungry. One recipe, keeping my carbs low for ONE serving, called for only 3/4 lbs. of pork to be split among 12 servings!!! Imagine how much protein you'll get to eat for one serving while staying low carb. I'm noticing more and more that the American Diabetes Association name is on cookbooks that really aren't diabetic friendly. I have to wonder if they get a substantial donation from the book publishers for the rights to use the name. Anyhow, there are very yummy recipes in this book and I think it would be great for someone who isn't counting carbs and trying not to be really hungry after they finish a meal. P.S. Why can't you see inside the book to check out recipes before you buy it? I think because less people would make the purchase.
Most diabetic foods are bland (!) and these are not. The recipes are easy to follow and I can find ingredients at my local grocery.
I was just diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes and I immediately started looking for cookbooks. I’m loving this book, it has a lot of great recipes that inspire me and help me to cope with this awful disease. Some recipes are a little too high carb but I’ve been doing a low carb way of eating for a long time so it’s easy to modify the recipes to bring the count down
I know that you can find a lot of recipes on the web. I even have a google home device to read me my recipes, but there is still something to be said for having an actual cook book to read, and learn from. I liked the recipes that i have created from this book.
