And proof of her pudding is in the book itself: well-written and informative, easy to read and use. I’ve worked with people with MBAs from Ivy League universities who couldn’t compose an email to save themselves. If you think you know everything about being a good writer, take the time to look through this book and you’ll realize you still have lots to learn. Fortunately Laura is a superb teacher and, better still, an extraordinary writer.

I just got my copy of Laura Brown’s new book and have already put it to use. Her advice on how to write an effective email was especially helpful to me. What I really like is that her explanations are fun, useful and easy to read. Ms. Brown explains how to express your thoughts and ideas in a clear and concise manner with helpful tips of how to engage your reader. As an artist, business writing does not come naturally to me so I really appreciate having this reference source. Ms. Brown explains not only how to structure emails but also skillfully walks you through writing letters, PR, resumes, social media etc. There are even chapters on punctuation and grammar. I highly recommend this book and look forward to using it more in the future.

Laura Brown covers every kind of business communication on which you might conceivably need guidance, and she does it all in blessedly clear prose. If you find writing nerve-wracking she offers great advice and reassurance; if you are a confident writer you will find useful tips for improvement. Good writing skills are increasingly valued (and rare) in the workplace and are ever more essential to advancement. I am recommending this book to my students heading into management/administration—but it’s a great choice for everyone from recent graduates just starting out to seasoned professionals needing to polish their skills and adapt to new media.

This is a clearly written book with easy to follow examples of good vs. bad business writing. The 7 step method employed by Laura Brown almost seems simplistic, but so many business writers often miss completing all of these steps when writing letters and emails. By following her recommendations, virtually every business writer can improve their communications with customers and colleagues. I highly recommend this book!

I often face a specific writing problem and don't want to read a whole writing book to find advice about what to do. I met Laura Brown when we were undergrads. Over the years, she has encouraged me to write and given me feedback on my writing. Reading her recently released book on business writing, I feel as though she’s talking to me in a small training room or on an audiobook. She coaches me/the reader through a flawed writing sample and an edited version. She explains the problems, how to fix them and why it matters.Laura’s book is useful whether or not you are comfortable writing AND whether or not you’re in business. I think it’s valuable for anyone who writes for an audience of any kind. I have incorporated several tips since I started reading her book.
