It's like 6 pages of plane pictures... Pointless

My two year old son loves this book. He studies the illustrations carefully, and points out every little detail. He carries around the book with him everywhere, even to the table for lunch. Good thing the book is a board book, because I can wipe it clean when he gets it dirty. I will order more books from the author because I know he will enjoy those too.

This is just a picture book...no story to go along with the pictures. Before I bought it I thought it was similar to Cars and Trucks and Things that Go, which my son loved.

Not the best book ever, it's not a story, just named planes. The kids like the book, but they like stories more.

Absolutely love the author. Love the illustrations. I had his books when I was young. Going to pass them on to my child. Hope he loves them as much as I did. Would recommend to anyone.

my boy is crazy for airplanes (up planes) and this book is great. perfect size for a 2yo, he turns the pages, we point to objects and colors and try to say the words. i come up with silly 2 sentence stories for each page.

Not a story - just pictures of different planes, but my 2 year old son loves planes and it was great to have on our 12 hour plane trip!

As another review mentioned, reading this book is like sitting down at the kitchen table and learning about reef aquariums from a good friend. I wanted to catch up on any changes in the hobby since back when I started, and picked this because of its 5-star rating. I've read many books on reef aquariums, fish and coral over the years and this is easily one of the best. As someone who has had a reef aquarium for over 20 years, I can tell you that his information is accurate and his advice is spot-on. If you're just getting started with a reef aquarium, this is your go-to book.

I recently decided to start a saltwater tank and bought a Biocube 29. During my initial days of research, I combed the internet and found way too much information out there that was either contradicting or confusing (for a noob). I started searching Amazon for a book to read that kept it simple as possible and presented a reasonable amount of information for the money. I decided to download a sample for this book, and really liked the tone (not overly serious and sometimes quite funny), plus it covered everything a noob like me should know (without major overkill or information that might scare you from starting the hobby), so I decided to buy it.I read the entire book over the course of a couple days and LOVED it! The information presented was full and easy to understand, and fun to read. I highly recommend this book if you're thinking about starting a hobby or are in the initial stages of starting. I've gone to it a few times afterwards to re-fresh also, so it's a good point of reference to have on hand later on. I joined the author's blog and found it to be informative and he's very open to help anybody that might have a quirky question (like me!). Totally worth $8...don't hesitate especially if you enjoy the sample Kindle provides.

This book was a great introduction into the hobby, offering a great foundation for diving into the saltwater world. It was entertaining to read, and flowed well. This is hardly a comprehensive (or advanced) resource, so I would recommend this book as one component of your saltwater fish keeping library.

With a few decades of old school Amazon fresh water aquarium husbandry, I was encouraged to go salt water with a nano 20 gallon all in one tank. I needed a starting point resources, and found it 5 star in this book. Thank you for writing it!

As a beginner in the world of saltwater I've been reading every book I can find on the subject. This book and the other two written by the author have by far been the most informative and interesting as a beginner. The information in all three books have been to the point, realistic, and very easy to comprehend. A few books I've read you would need a degree in marine biology to understand but the author does a great job translating the never ending information needed to know for this hobby. I consider all three books a must read for anyone interested in the hobby, the authors knowledge mixed with his humor makes all three books an informative and easy read.

Most helpful of all & i've purchased & read 15 now. Many of the others are filled with great information it's just that this book gives you confidence to start & the desire to do a good job of it. He keeps it simple & gives you the rationale which makes you want to learn more. wish it was bound & not just an e-book...

Clear, simply terms and explanations for all of the basics in setting up and maintaining a salt water aquarium. I loved the humor throughout - it took what could have been a dry topic and made it entertaining!!! Thank you Al!!!

If you are a dedicated Warhammer fan this book is most certainly for you. Though on the expensive side, I would argue that this one is worth the price tag. Unlike some of the novellas that come out demanding similar amounts of money. If you want to understand the idea of Chaos in Warhammer this is what you need. If you are more interested in the art then the substance it REALLY has you covered. The art in this book the styles of the fonts and the pictures of the minions of Nurgle, Slaneesh ,Tzeentch and Khorne are simply amazing. This book is certainly full of color and a great read to boot.Loved every second of it.

This book carries a steep price but in my estimation is more than worth picking up. I've been a fan of Warhammer since I was 8. I love the old system and this new system. If you have never seen any of the info presented in the old (1st edition) Chaos books then this book is for you. It covers all four Chaos gods. There is a little bit of Warhammer 40K presented here. Most of the info is WFRP. The artwork is as impressive as ever and this book is filled with it. Now for the FAIR WARNING. This book does NOT contain ANY statistic info. Any number junkies out there would want to avoid this book. I though it would be nice to have all the info on Chaos in one book including stats but oh well. It is a good read. It is written as if it is an actual book of research about chaos. Quite fun to be reading something in it and see the researchers hand writing in different ink making notes to things he referenced earlier or correcting himself or even getting a nose bleed while trying to figure out choas calculations. On the nose bleed page there several drops of blood that stain the page. It is a massive book, well bound, and in hardback with a soft cover flap.

Im more of a Warhammer 40k fan. (It covers a little of that) It it is am excellent read. It gives much insight into the world of Warhammer.

Book arrived in good condition - one minor dent which occurred during postage but otherwise fine. Arrived in a decent timeframe too.

This is the best book about the Chaos Gods and the second best book about Chaos in general after «Tome of Corruption» (WFRP). Extremely well narrated and very well thought. The author have succeed to present the nature and aspects of the Chaos Gods and their followers like never before. This is a classic for Warhammer.One could think that the Chaos and the Chaos Gods of Warhammer would present the perfect setting to get stories of anti-hero in abundance. However, so far I found none that was very satisfying. «Palace of the Plague Lord» and «Blood for the blood god» are set in the Chaos waste, but they are not that much sinister because they are rather conventional after all. The second one is not totally boring, but not that great either. It give you a fun trip, but nothing more.To get a proper fix of vileness and horror from the Ruinous Power, the Warhammer fan will have to find it outside the Black Library novels. The coveted heretical manuscript lay with this book. Lucky you, Black Library reprinted the book in november 2009 in hardcover, so that it can endure more mistreatment and compulsive reading usage.I can't recommend this magnificient book enough. Like I said, it is the best book about the Chaos Gods and their symbolic ever written so far. It's not a novel, but it is neither a book for the tabletop game or the roleplaying game. There is no statistics and such into this book. It content and structure are purely literate. The goal of the book is to develop and to dig the symbolic and the meaning associated to each Chaos Gods. It also cover their minions and followers, but they are used as a mean to explain and to push further the psychology and implications associated to the the four Chaos Gods motto (Blood, Pleasure, Decay and Change). It present the information as if it have been written by different characters and scholars who would have collected thoughts, interviews reports and evidence on the topic. In that sens, it is a little bit like a collection of short fictions on a common topic. If you like the universe of Warhammer or if you are a fan of fantasy literature, you will enjoy this reading for sure.

Wow. That's really all I can say to sum up this collection. Wow. I did not purchase the individual volumes and only became aware of the series recently when I found a listing for this book. As the description states, this book is essentially an overview of Warhammer's four Chaos gods. Now, there have been several books released covering similar territory, but never have I seen one so well done. The twin Realms of Chaos volumes put out by Games Workshop in the early 1990s are almost as good, but Liber Chaotica just oozes a style, atmosphere, and character unlike anything I've ever seen in a gaming suppliment. It's worth mentioning that this book contains absolutely no game rules for either Warhammer Fantasy Battles or Warhammer 40K (in fact, it makes no mention of the 40K universe). This fact makes it more a resource for players of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay than the wargaming crowd. But my god, what a resource! The whole book is written as if it were penned by the Imperial scholar Richter Kless, a device that worked quite well in the old Earthdawn and Shadowrun suppliments from FASA. The idea is that you get an educated overview of Chaos from the perspective of a character who lives in the Warhammer world. What makes it work so well in Liber Chaotica is that Kless actually goes back and adds handwritten annotations to his work. Over the course of the book's five volumes, readers get to watch his sanity slowly deteriorate as he exposes himself to the subtle, corrupting influence of Chaos. The Horrors Sourcebook for FASA's Earthdawn was written (and written well) in the same fashion, but that book's relative brevity robbed it of the impact that Liber Chaotica manages to achieve.The book itself is a work of art. It is well bound and lavishly (and, at times, disturbingly) illustrated. I simply cannot recommend it enough to anyone who has an interest in the forces of Chaos in the Warhammer world. Buy it before it goes out of print, you will not be disappointed.

Ask my nine-year-old what she loves about book two in the Halley Harper series and she will tell you the major science mishap at the Halloween party. Every science girl's worst nightmare. Ask me what I love about the Halley Harper series and I will tell you that I love how science is integrated seamlessly into a fun story about friendship. Big science concepts are taught in bite-sized ways, which leave readers excited to experiment and eager for the next book in the series.As a former educator, I know there isn't much time left in daily schedules for science, but as I was reading Halley Harper, I thought this book would make a great read aloud for a class, and a fun way to squeeze more science into a tight schedule. I also think this book would be great for an organization that already talks about friendship, confidence, and making mistakes and learning from them...maybe something like Girls on the Run. Or (look at all of these ideas!), this would be a great take-home gift for a science themed birthday party or a science camp.Oh and I noticed the author has loads of resources on her website.My girl and I are obviously fans. Bring on book three.

Ready for s'more science? Ms. Borgmeyer continues to weave fun Science into Halley Harper's "hair raising" (spoiler alert) adventures. Kids will find this quick read very relatable. The short quick read chapters are ideal for bedtime being read to or read alone, but be prepared to read more than one or two or.... kids will anxiously want to turn the pages and follow Halley's adventures.Don’t fret about the science elements turning kids off... they are skillfully interwoven into the story and seem just a natural extension of Halley. The underlying themes of magic, friendship and forgiveness are refreshing..... looking forward to Book #3!

This was a great follow-up to the first book. The author has already made you love the characters in the first book, and now you immediately find out that something is wrong. How is Halley ever going to fix it? The author does a great job of sneaking in science learning in the story of the book. As an adult I enjoyed it immensely, but the kiddos that I bought if for enjoyed it even more. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a great read.

Finding appropriate books for my kids can sometimes be difficult but the Halley Harper books make it an easy choice with engaging story lines, relatable characters and awesome science themes. The second book came at a perfect time during summer when we needed new reading material. Not only did my kids love the book, they found inspiration for several science experiments. My kitchen may be more of a mess but my kiddos had a blast! I did receive the book as an advanced reader copy but also purchased it for my family’s Kindle devices.

My daughter absolutely LOVES Halley Harper. She loved the first book and would constantly ask when this second book would come out. Once it was in her possession, she did not put it down until she finished it. It’s great to know that there is a book out there that is not only pure for a child to read, but that is also inspirational and encouraging to young girls to come to appreciate science and all it exposes us to.

This second book of the Halley Harper series expands on the themes of the previous "Summer Set in Motion" book. But now there are old friendships to restore, new friendships to make, and unexplained mysteries to solve with a twist at the end – all with the help of science. This is a great book to power kids’ interest in science and reading – for both girls and boys!

Super fun book for my 6-year old daughter and I to read together. She’s just beginning to read so we took turns reading pages. She loves all the fun experiements they do and that they found the secret treasure. I like that the books make the science accessible and fun while weaving it into stories of friendship.

You can eat pretty much anything you want as long as it fits within your macro parameters. This book will teach you pretty much everything you need to know about the IIFYM ("If It Fits Your Macros") dieting style, and it also provides a consistent collection of simple, but tasty recipes that are very easy to prepare.

This book is shorter than I expected. It had recipes in it, which I didn’t expect at all. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quick read on iifym.

I picked up volume 2 as well and love the large print and the puzzle themes. All the words are related to the title of the puzzle and the text is large enough for me to not have to strain my vision. I actually ended up giving this one away as a gift to someone who was stealing pages out of my volume 2 on breaks at work. So I will probably have to pick up another. Great gift.

My Mom loves these word search books. I ordered Volumes 1 through 3 for her. Halfway through Volume 2, she's asking for more books. I just ordered volumes 4 through 6. Mr. Smart please publish more books! My mom sits for hours doing the puzzles!These books are excellent for maintaining cognitive ability especially for senior citizens.

My Husband was really excited to get this as a Christmas present. It has a little bit of all the fun games in it to keep the brain stimulated.

Life in the Hanoi Hilton (POW camp) was a daily suffering that must be read to be believed.But, one of the things we learn from this great book is that the US government did absolutely nothing to help our boys being tortured in Vietnamese prisons.And their families were even forbidden to talk about it.It took the women, wifes and mothers of the prisoners to unite and rally, and start fighting for their men and finally, slowly, force our government to do SOMETHING! to help them.How incredibly sad. "We'll send you thousands of miles away to fight a senseless, unwinnable war, but... if you're captured and tortured, don't come crying to us and don't expect our help"

This is a most read book for anyone who thinks that life has been tough on them. Anyone who thinks that they have been dealt a bad hand in life will feel somewhat blest that their live might be rough....... it is nothing in comparison to the united mitigated torture and suffering that these great patriots and their loved ones endured. Incredible read. I am a Vietnam Vet and have seen the horror of war but this book takes war to another level of suffering.

This is must read for readers who are interested in the Day to Day Lives of the POW's who where imprisoned in Hanoi during the Vietnam War.The author , Alvin Townley , obviously researched the personal stories of a number of P.OW.'s but in particular a primary group who remained committed to honoring the Military Code of Honor . These men were beaten and tortured both physically and mentally by the North Vietnamese on a 24/7 basis.For the reader, it is secondary if one believed or did not believe in the Vietnam War as the book is about courage and a believe in country without consideration to life and well being. They survived through the secret creation of communications and insistence that each individual follow the Military Code even when faced with daily torture for long periods of time. Many experienced torture that resulted in permanent damage to their bodies which could not be reconstructed upon their release.Although a large portion of the book is about the POW's it also provides a detailed description of how their wives and family members created a challenge to our President and Secretary of State to assure the release of their family members became a major part of the negotiations at theParis Peace Talks, that eventually ended the war, Their efforts embarrassed both the U.S. State Department and the Vietnamese negotiators and and in turn forced them to make the welfare and release of their men a priority with the negotiation process..

I just finished this book this morning, and even as I sit to write a review I am at a loss for words. I did not grow up knowing details of, or understanding much of the Vietnam War. I was not yet alive when this all took place. I know it was a painful time in our country's history that so many have extremely passionate opinions about, and to that I do not assume to hold such an opinion. I always wanted to understand more.Alvin Townley's "Defiant" allowed me to see through a peephole into the human spirit of men like I can only hope we still have fighting for our country today. The story of the eleven men who were imprisoned in Alcatraz in Northern Vietnam were men of character, courage, faith, integrity and valiance. The torture that was brought to life on the pages of Townley's book forced me to lay the book aside more than once, yet I could not put it down. I am proud to be a part of a country whose history includes these men, along with their wives and families back home who fought tirelessy for their lives and release.I felt heartache and sickness as I read of the days and weeks of endless torture. I cried tears of joy and pride that welled up in the end as the men returned to lives that had been put on hold for them, luckier than I know many were. Though not often, I did laugh - being a born and bred Texan it made me chuckle to read that Sam Johnson ate Tex Mex for five days straight upon his return to the Lone Star State.I read a lot, though not a lot of historical non-fiction. However, I would recommend this book to everyone who would like to have a glimpse of this time in our history, or into the lives of these men who served us so well. Alvin, great job on telling their stories to the rest of us!

I can't tell you how much I cried. Excellent book , written well and really let a reader what was in these guys souls. I do now remember as a kid sitting at the tv watching these POW's get off the plane with their families waiting. It's taken me over 40 years to discover what I was really watching as a 13 year old. I wish all these people who decide to send troops some where would read a few books like that and not send our guys out to fight other people's wars, and die for other countries. It's just not right. God bless all soldiers.
