I bought this as a gift for my nephews who are 2 and 5 and they love it. It is a cute little book with beautiful illustrations. If your child is into boats it is a great gift. The story line is very simple with only a few words per page. The five year old liked it because he is learning to read and could recognize some of the words. The 2 year old liked it because of the pictures and all the cool boats. It has a great message and is about getting the little tug boat (your kids) to sleep after a hard day's work. Good for any tired parent who wants their kids to go to bed!

This is a wonderful book. My 2 year old boy loves it and my 4 year old daughter loves reading it to us (she has it memorized).

We bought this because our 1.5 year old loves "super truck". This book was also a big hit (even though he has never seen a tug boat). Nice and simple artwork. Short and sweet story! We've purchased three books by this author and have not been disappointed.

Cute pictures, but the story is kind of boring, even for kids. My boys like the pictures, though!

Adorable story for toddlers of the little tugboat and how he helps all the other boats and ships in the harbor. Great to use as a teaching tool for kids how they can be great helpers too.

Love pics but a little boring story

This is an adorable book. Got it for my daughters 3rd birthday and she loves it. It is short enough it will be a great one for her to practice reading when she is ready.

This is the second Stephen Savage book that I bought my grandson. This and Super Truck are perfect for the 2-3 year old who is starting to memorize a story line. The sentences on each page are short and simple and the illustrations are very engaging. As a grandma and a retired primary teacher I highly recommend this book.

I really love Catherine's build of the Coulter Family. The way she's woven the characters together is masterful and difficult to do. I feel like I'm watching a TV series, reading these books, and I love it!I enjoyed this book, the fifth in the series, more than I did book four, and I was so relieved! I really wanted a great story after I felt so let down, but Catherine didn't let me down with Bright Eyes.She's painted the history of the Coulter family with so much heart, loyalty, and commitment, that it's difficult not to fall in love with them. I will be sad when the series ends!In Bright Eyes, Catherine attacks some very common family and social problems with injections of humor to break up the seriousness surrounding these issues. Natalie and Zeke seemed like really people you might meet anywhere, and I enjoyed the development of their story.Yes, you need to read this book!

Bright Eyes by Catherine AndersonLoved this book as I have all of them from the series beginnings. I like the way she attacks common family and social problems and injects humor. She brings this family from post civil war to the way things are now. I only wish this family could go on forever and I would always be able to read about them.

Catherine Anderson is one of the best authors that I have read in creating kind, predictable characters that fall into situations that test their ability to remain sane. Bright Eyes was a light and enjoyable read. Each new character that I come across in this series of books becomes a favorite until I read another one. Kudos to an insightful lady.

I am NOT a reader. I can read fine, just don't enjoy it much. However, "Journey of Desire" led me on a journey into my own heart, history, and identity that created a hunger to read more each day.Chapter 11 was a very revealing chapter for me, and one I knew I would need to reread many times as I continued to walk out my daily adventure with the Father.

I enjoyed this book but its rather uneven. Eldridge tries almost too hard to avoid how-to's, making his message muddled at times. But regardless of that, he beings a useful and refreshing perspective to the questions of passions and desire in the context of Christian discipleship: stating that passion and desire are at the heart of true discipleship.

This was a very illuminating book for me. I only wish in my old age that I could remember all the wisdom found in this book. Be sure and read the Sacred Romance before you read this one.

This is an amazing book! John Eldrige just writes in an easy to relate and understanding way. Our heart matters to God. We tend to squash our real deep down desires as life takes a toll on us over time, this helps go after them again with the help of God!

Powerful dialectic on the role of desire in the faith pilgrimage.

A great mix of deeper spirituality and scripture.

A great read and a fierce reminder of the importance of desire and the journey that we all must go on to fully embrace it.

Torres' high-energy concept is exceptionally easy to dive into and cleverly plays with the manga genre, making it an excellent read for a gradeschooler. Though, at only 40 pages, with very large panels and brief dialogue, it feels like more of a taste of a story than a fully fleshed out narrative, there's still a lot here for kids to get excited about. Action fills almost every page, and the brobots are always ready with a one-liner or joke, which usually revolve around a pun using the word hro as oddly as possible. For example: they say, “What bro's up, must bro down,” after jumping. Dove's brightly colored artwork has the absurd cartoon quality of an Adventure Time episode, with hammy smiles and blocky character design. Coupled with energetic storytelling, it's a combination sure to lure in young readers. A great kickoff to a series with lots of room to develop further.

Really enjoyed this. The back and forth is witty. Ordered the 2nd book after reading this one. Great book for kids. Volume 2 and the Mecha Malarky.

This book is so popular at my house, if you ask my three year old "what's it time for", he very well might just yell "bro-activation"!

Meet Panchi, Joukei, and Kouro. They're a trip of robot brothers with the ability to morph together into a giant robot warrior. This special ability helps them when a large fire-breathing monster terrorizes their hometown. But in order to defeat this foe, the brothers learn the important lesson that bigger isn't always better. Can they work as a team of three in hopes of saving the day? The Kaiju Kerfluffle appears to be the first in a series from the #1 on the cover. Created by J. Torres (Teen Titans Go!), I think if the publisher, Oni Press, can get the word out, I think this could be very popular with youngsters. It would even make a great animated cartoon series as well! (Are you listening Nicktoons???) As I mentioned, there's a giant fire breathing monster in the book, along with some other surprises. But the artwork by Sean K. Dove is playful, not frightening. So the monsters should not be intimidating for younger readers. BroBots was a cute tale that young readers from the ages of 4-8 will enjoy. But it's really silly and could easily become one of those books that are a fan favorite to youngsters but could drive parents crazy having to read every night. (Is that really a bad thing?)

The Brobots accidentally fish a monster...er, make that a giant out of the sea that starts terrorizing the city. They must capture the giant and save the city!Take one part Japanese monster movie, one part Jack and the Beanstalk, throw in a dash of puns, and melt it down to be aimed lower grade readers and this is the graphic novel you get. It's fun with simple text and one zany giant chase by robots. A great graphic novel pick for reluctant lower grade readers or robot fans. (It's also one of the most unique Jack and the Beanstalk twists out there.)Notes on content: Beware the prevalent puns!!! (Ok, sorta joking.) There are fight scenes, but everyone seems to be ok and the Brobots work on fixing the property damage in the city.

I can always tell when he's reading it because of the big giggles coming from his room.

I bought this book at the beginning of our school year for two of my boys. They are eight and 10 and were having a difficult time sitting still for spelling and were kind of lost with their regular spelling books.This book has really helped them understand spelling because it helps them see that most big words are little words, prefixes and/or suffixes strung together.I didn't want to use the cutout letters in the back of the book. I have a stash of Scrabble letters. So, I used them and picked out all the letters particular for that lesson.That's how this book works. All the words from each lesson can be spelled with the letters from the longest word. So those letters are given to the student. The student then forms the words as each word is read.Then I decided to add to and change things for my boys. I started having them write the words from each lesson and stopped giving them the letter tiles. It was getting too easy to guess the correct spelling because they use the small amount of letters to spell all the words from each lesson.I had them write the misspelled words and use them in their writing. They don't misspell too many words any longer.This book has helped my boys and they like it (or at least they don't mind doing spelling now)

This book provides a great spelling activity for my whole class. It is a great way to make manipulative materials out of something that is otherwise conceptual. We do a different word each week which allows me to choose what spelling patterns to sort for, and I can match it up with my weekly spelling list. I have made it competitive and teams work together to make the most words with the most letters. Then they have to multiply the number of words they get by the number of letters in those words (i.e., 12 words x 4 letters in those words = 48 points) then they add to get their final score. It is a great way to review multiplication of 2-digits by 1-digit while finalizing a spelling activity. Great book!

I like these books. It is a time saver to have word lists ready made. I use my own letter tiles. I pick and choose according to what sorts of words I'm working on with a particular student. Sometimes I need to adapt a list a bit. I own four of the books in this series so can almost always find a lesson that will work. My kiddos always like trying to figure out the last word that uses all the letters.

Great for my weekly find as many words as possible. The kids love when I put the letters up on Monday and give prizes to whomever finds the most words. Great resource!

Students love making words! I have the activities prepped in advance and students just go to where it is. I also use it in conjunction with Magnetic Teaching Tiles and let students make the words on the metal air handling unit in the room (could also use cookie sheets).

The lessons take a little longer than is suggested but they do make the suggestion they can be done over two days. As I walk around I can really see at a glance the students who struggle. All my students enjoy doing this and everyone is engaged.

Doesn't follow a real sequence or explicitly teach any skills. More of a source of activities than actual lessons.
