After losing my study bible (I hope whoever has it is reading it), I began to look for a replacement. I used to be a part of this popular sentiment towards the NIV2011 edition that considered it sub-par to the NIV1984. This simply isn't the case. This Bible has truly set me on the road to understanding that while different, the 2011 does speak to me, and those I share it with just as well as the 1984. The theology is the same, and the translation is still very accurate. This bible in particular is in a wonderful soft "leather" cover that feels so right. The annotations and little bits of commentary are such a joy to have, because the explanations are plain and concise. The print is approximately equivalent to 11 pt on a Microsoft Word document, big enough for me, easy to read especially when teaching.

I really love this study bible. It gives you explinations in each story and a preface for every book. It even connects their references to other parts of the bible to make it more clear. It also has a map of the land of that time so you can follow along that way. I'm so happy with this purchase.

I just finished looking over this bible and am very pleased with what I received, particularly with the price point in mind.The outer cover looks very nice. It's got a basic, rugged appearance that makes it feel very appropriate for a grown man's bible. It's simple and elegant, without a bunch of crazy angular patterns or funky colors. Just brown leatherette (feels very nice and supple even though it's not 100% legit leather) with gold contrast sticking around the outside, "Holy Bible" embossed on the front cover and "NIV Foundation Study Bible" embossed on the spine.The pages are a crisp white and the text a clear black that's easy to read. There is a little bit of shadow from the words on the opposite side of the page as you see in most bibles (at least the ones I've ever seen). It doesn't interfere with reading the words. I have decent vision with my contact lenses in and have no trouble reading the words at a full arms length away from my face.It is labeled as a "Lay Flat" bible, and this is mostly true, but it won't lay flat unless you're in the middle sections. Don't expect to read Genesis with it flat on the table, because it's just going to flip shut. This may change with age, but at least while new, you need some mass on the sides to keep it open.The cover also seems to want to stand up a little when the book is closed, sort of like what happens with a paperback when you're creased the front cover. Again, I don't know if this will get better or worse with age. If you just expect this to be a "paperback" bible with a leather shell, rather than a "hardcover" leather bible, you won't be disappointed.I cannot comment on the "study" portion of this yet, as I have just received it. I would suggest reading other reviews about that aspect.It's got a built in bookmark and the pages have a gold edge, both of these are nice touches.Overall, for the price, I am pleased with this purchase, and expect it to be a useful bible for me for a long time.

Unfortunately, I cannot download this book to my kindle paperwhite without causing it to continually reboot. I can only download to my kindle iOS app (works fine on the iPhone)

Great quality, and great study guide incorporated in the contents.

Nice to have a e-version handy, but a hard copy is still the best and quickest way for me to navigate from OT to NT and book to book. The concordance is very good.
