Ken Langone is a co-founder of Home Depot and the founder and chairman of Invemed Associates LLC. He received a B.A. from Bucknell University and an M.B.A. from New York University's Stern School of Business. He serves on the Board of Overseers of the Stern School and on the Board of Trustees of New York University, as well as serving as chairman of the Board of Trustees of New York University Medical Center. In addition, he serves on the boards of St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Ronald McDonald House of NY, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the Horatio Alger Society Foundation, and the Harlem Children's Zone and its charter school, the Promise Academy. I picked this up after reading a favorable review in the Wall Street Journal, and I’m glad I did – it was entertaining, interesting, and had nice bits of information on the way business should be conducted: your word is your bond. Some may say there is a bit of bragging while the author is discussing the deals he was involved with over the years, but to paraphrase the late Dizzy Dean “it ain’t bragging if you can do it.”I enjoyed seeing the cast of characters, many of whom I remember reading about while I was younger, but I thought “man, it’s a small world” as one of the guys the author worked with, Jimmy Keane, also helped me and my little company out while we were doing an equity raise almost 20 years ago. I can relate to and 100% agree with his comments regarding Bob Nardelli, as I also worked for GE Power Systems for five years.The first 75% of the book talks about the deals the author did and as I said I thought they were interesting and it is more of an autobiography. The last 25% really had pearls of wisdom I wish all young business students would read and take to heart. Without having a spoiler, I’ll just leave it at this: the tide will rise!

I mostly became familiar with Ken Langone on the Cavuto shows. I came to admire him a great deal, even if his politics are a somewhat more Progressive than mine (as are Cavuto’s). But I admired him a lot more for his business acumen and generosity with the money he has earned through hard work, brains, and a bit of good fortune. We could all do a lot worse than emulate his public approach to life.I bought this book because I wanted to know more about him and the book provides that. Since Langone is a very voluble man, I imagine that much of the stories and anecdotes in the book are stories he has included in his various speeches and interviews over the decades of his public life, but I didn’t know them and am glad to have them here in one easy to read handy volume.Langone comes across as a very hard working man who enjoys making deals and earning money. These are traits his upbringing taught him through his hard working and poor father and grandfather. Langone, likes the cushion money can give him in life. Yes, he likes the comforts and luxuries of life. But he likes more using his success to bless the lives of others because of his faith. John D. Rockefeller had that same urgent charity. God blessed them with money through their natural gifts, hard work, and the skills they learned. Their obligation was to turn that money into more. Ken Langone repeatedly points out in the book that while he likes the luxuries he enjoys, he likes the lives he has been able to lift through his many businesses and deals and charity even more. To me, he seems very sincere in this. The fruits of his life testify to the man he actually is. And the stories he tells and the actions match up.Langone covers stories that made the papers and TV from his perspective. He elaborates on some, corrects others, and is willing to set the story straight for a few people he clearly does not admire much. Even then, he is never vicious or petty. He doesn’t have to be. They can’t hurt him. But he wants us to know what the truth is as he sees it.Personally, I think the world is a much better place because of Ken Langone and his business partners. I admire them all. They took the risks and made it pay off for themselves, their partners, their employees, and we who are their customers. Home Depot has made your life and my life better even if you never spent a nickel there. How? Because your contractors almost certainly did. Home Depot also made the market more efficient for home repair and do it yourselfers. Their competition with Lowe’s drove prices down for each of us. Even if you like your local hardware store, they survived because they adapted and learn to compete because of Home Depot. So, we all owe the founders of Home Depot real gratitude. They led the way in big box single market stores.My only reservation with the book is that Ken Langone must speak with a salty vocabulary and he uses it in the book to be honest about who he is. I could have done with a bit less of that honesty. How do I give this book to a kid to read and get inspired when it is full of curse words? Sure, it is everywhere nowadays. But not from me. I did give it to my CEO entrepreneurial daughter because she and I love business so much. But she’s an adult.Get the book and enjoy it. I did.

It’s interesting.

I’d seen Ken Langone many times on CNBC. He’s blunt and funny. Also very smart.I didn’t know the full Home Depot story and I found that very interesting. I wanted more on the Grasso story and the disgraced Eliott Spitzer.Three people at Bucknell made a huge difference in his life. He’s paid Bucknell back, big time.Ken and his wife have been very generous. The inside story on NYU was interesting.The inspirational part is how a plumber’s son became a billionaire.Two questions:1. When Nardelli was CEO of HD why did the stock price stay flat when the numbers were great?2. When he left Pressprich, he wrote that his capital was trapped there. Is that true? Or did he get it back over a number of years?I also liked the score settling with the likes of Ming the Merciless.

I've read all the Michael Lewis books, a few day trading books, a couple insider trading books, Sheelah Kolhatkar's Black Edge, but Ken Langone's I Love Capitalism is, so far, my favorite stock market/Wall St. oriented book. Langone writes as if he is sitting down having a conversation with you with just the right amount of profanity sprinkled in. His dealings with Ross Perot are amusing. Highly recommended.

This is a very honest and heartfelt book by someone, who despite becoming very, very successful, never forgot his roots and the many people who have helped him along the way. In this day and age, he is refreshing because he values: family, friends, ethics, his country, giving back and God. Mr. Langone, is clearly bright, but it is apparent from his humility that despite his hard work, if God were not assisting him and people who have helped him along the way, he would never have reached such a high level of wealth. It is a very inspiring, honestly written book that I read in one weekend. Thank you to the author.

I posted before and after pix on my FB page, but this hideous, autoimmune disease that struck others in my family 20-30 years before it hit mine, evaporated within 4 months of beginning Dr. Goldner's program. I also paid for an online consult with her, which was the best money I've ever spent. If you Google PA, it's as if your life ends a year after diagnosis. I'd be lucky to walking, let alone running, as I'd been doing for 40 years. The pix I posted showed my palms on fire, with red, scaling plaques, my fingernails separating from my fingernail beds, and my fingers starting to get curled and arthritic. All of that completely went away! While her books focus on her own journey fighting Lupus, another similar but different autoimmune disease, she works with others like me who have/had autoimmune diseases. 64 ounces of greens a day in a blender. Her recipes make it easy to deal with that. I'd been vegan, but since 2011 been on book tour and a snack bar lifestyle. This was a wakeup call to how important it is to eat unprocessed foods!

I was disappointed when I received this pamphlet (it is not a book) for nearly $10. There are 25 pages of smoothie recipes and the pages feel line you printed it at home. That said, the recipes are ok. I would pay a few more dollars and get an actual smoothie book, like Simple Green Smoothies with over 150 recipes rather than 24.

Dr. G is a GENIUS! Her book Goodbye Lupus has changed my life and this recipe book gives you so many options that to never get bored of drinking smoothies. Love it! Although I will say that you can find many recipes online, but she has a great variety.

So many great recipes! My favorite is the vanilla, avocado, and banana. You cannot taste the greens. I’m not a fan of kale, so the recipes that call for it I replace it with spinach. Overall I feel a drastic difference in my health

This 36 page book is very expensive at $10. Her other book tells her story and theories on health. This book is only the recipes. The recipes are pretty healthy if not high is carbs and fructose but can be modified for personal dietary restrictions. I think the author would do better to reissue her other book with these recipes included rather than having this small separate book.

I love Doctor Goldner and her message! The only con to this book is that it's small and probably could have been included in her book Goodbye Lupus, but if someone is just looking for healing smoothie recipes, this is probably perfect.

Bought this because I have been battling issues of inflammation and I know diet is an important issue to focus on. I like the recipes because they are simple and easy to put together. I didn't have a problem picking up what I would need in order to get started and so far the smoothies have been tasty and satisfying . Good buy.

This second volume in Wiesel's memoirs (the first was All Rivers Run to the Sea) isAas a memoir by this Jewish novelist, activist and Nobel Peace laureate must beAa moral accounting, of himself and of those he has known. And he spares no one, from Israeli U.N. ambassador Abba Eban to French president Fran?ois Mitterrand, in an honest report on how he believes they have let him down. The tale resumes here with Wiesel's marriage in 1969, at the age of 40, and follows the author through his most active years as a goad to the world's memory (of the Holocaust) and conscience (in the realm of human rights, especially those of Soviet Jewry). The events are often dramatic: one of the book's climaxes comes in 1985, when it was announced that President Reagan would visit Bitburg, a German cemetery where SS members are buried, and Wiesel had to decide whether to receive from Reagan's hands the Congressional Gold Medal. Courageous as ever, he accepted the awardAand used the occasion to speak truth to power, urging Reagan to change his plans for the trip. Wiesel is equally forthright about the political maneuvers and infighting that led him to resign from chairing the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council before its task, building a museum, was even begun. Elie Wiesel is a writer I have read and will read gratefully with pleasure for he offers what I understand is the very substance of the meaning of life: his love of words and a conscientious use of them, a deep perception of pain, sorrow and experience, a sense of responsibility towards others together with his faith in a God he loves in spite of his apparent failings, I enjoy his deep appreciation of joy and happiness shared with others as part of Jewish religious rituals.

Detailed guide that not only includes some of the best day hikes near Tucson, but also tells you what terrain you will expect to encounter, whether or not you can bring your pet, a detailed list of what things you may see there, as well as a list of what you may need to take along with you on a day hike. I highly recommend it if you are new to or just visiting Tucson.

This is a small guide book that easily fits into your daypack or jacket pocket and details short hikes in the Tucson area. It's a small price to pay for the confidence that you are on the right trail (and will be able to find your way back to the car).

This trail guide is a great size (4 1/4" x 7") so it's easy to carry. The hikes are organized well and the trail descriptions are well done. Directions to the trailhead are clear. One major shortfall - it gives no elevation change for any hike. It adjusts the hike difficulty level and adds "... due to elevation change." Had I known that I would not have bought this guide.

Well organized, with a good format, informative and accurate. We used it to zero in on the best hikes wherever we were.

Small book that you can take with you when you are searching for that perfect hike. Just wish it had pics.

Nice Hiking Book, Yes, just as described.

This could've been a nice little booklet for people looking for easy/accessible hikes in the Tucson area. Virtually all of the hikes in here are classic/must-do hikes. The problem is that the information given is not necessarily accurate. Fee information and the dog-friendless is especially inaccurate. For instance, several hikes in here say that dogs are allowed on leash when dogs have not been allowed for many many years. Dog-owners would either be disappointed or need to check with other sources (but then, why buy the guide). Similar problems are found throughout the book. An inaccurate guide is worse than no guide.There are superior Tucson area hiking books out there. Maybe not as cheap as this one, but then you get what you pay for.

These stories are nice because they are short and sweet, which doesn't allow kids time to get bored and in fact leaves them asking for "just one more!!". The messages are subtle, so it doesn't feel preachy although it is giving very powerful messages. The way that Bunjitsu Bunny is presented is perfect for my 6 y.o. daughter. She always wants to be the best at everything, and Bunjitsu Bunny is a great example of humble confidence. I will be buying more books from this series, as we finished this one within a couple nights.

My 6 year old son likes this book, despite the bunny being a girl. He reads well but has difficulty understanding and explaining sequence of events and main ideas sometimes. The content is not too difficult and has meaningful lessons that we can discuss afterwards (unlike the other books he reads that are about farts, boys pulling pranks, etc.) It's great because the chapters are more like mini books, so he can read one day and then come back to it later and not have to remember what the story was about.

My 6 yr old son who is in karate class LOVES this whole series (so do I)!. Every chapter is a lesson. "Bunjitsu is not just about kicking, hitting, and throwing... It is about finding ways NOT to kick, hit, and throw." That is an important lesson for all kids to know, but especially those who are in martial arts.

When the bunny was knocked down he was really strong and got back up. It made me want to be the bunny. There was a promise to be made to be a good artist, to make someone smile, be friendly to a friend. I really liked this book I would like to read more about Bunjitsu Bunny.This review was written by my grandson.

I think these books work well for 6-8 year olds. I like them because they offer a different way of viewing things. A different perspective. Wonderfully illustrated for kids.

These stories are the best. My 7 year old loves them because bunnies + ninjas = awesome in his book. I love them because all of the stories teach important life lessons.

My grandson adores this book. It arrived quickly and as expected.

The dog chewed a copy so we had to have another. There was a shipping delay, but the book was fine.

I'm upgrading my review of this book, having gone through more of it. The author does take a while to get around to giving practical exercises (not until chapter 5), but the instruction is, as the title implies, direct and practical, and the preceding 4 chapters give only information that is truly necessary for proper understanding of what you're doing. But there is one criticism that does still stand, and this is not criticism of the author's content, but of the poor quality of the binding. In the first week after receiving my purchase, the binding began to separate.
